Flower Bouquet

When you get a beautiful flower bouquet even on vacation. ❤ This is the story about it…

IMG_8429

That day in the beginning of July, we decided to go kart racing in Klaipeda (gokartas.lt). We`ve been planning to do it for a long time. Finally, we arrived at the place and excitement was slowly rising. The woman who worked there told us to wait for the next round. She told us to come in, as I say, their little house, where you suppose to pay, register your name, put your purse into the locker and pick up a helmet. So we sat outside, watching other people riding both fast and slow, listened to the sounds karting cars were making and we were widely smiling while waiting for our turn.

Then suddenly the lady told us to come inside to register our names and pay for the ride. We realised that we didn’t have any more cash, only money on the card. Most places take cards nowadays, but unfortunately that wasn’t that kind of place. She told us that they only take cash. Well, that was a bit disappointing, but luckily a food store with a mini bank was situated close by. So no worries, we went there.

On the way to the minibank, near the store, we saw some elders selling their garden goodies to the people passing by. An old lady looked at us and said that she only got one bouquet left that she wanted to sell that day. She looked at my guy and ask if he wanted to buy those flowers for me. Beautiful wild flowers looked and smelled simply heavenly. He looked at me and smiled, handed the lady a couple of euros that she asked for the flowers and with that simple action made two women really happy that evening! 😀 The old woman immediately started packing and could finally go home. And me, well, I couldn’t stop smiling and took a bunch of photos!

IMG_8424IMG_8431 2IMG_8394IMG_8420

After kart racing we were full of adrenaline and decided to buy a take away pizza. And tell me, what could be better than eating pizza on the beach by a beautiful Baltic Sea. The sea water was quite still which is rare and the sunset we got to see was shiny and beautiful.

Meet&Greet with Baby Tigers in Klaipeda

So where should I start this fun adventure? I never thought I would do this. I didn’t have a single thought about this particular meet in my head. Especially I couldn’t imagine Lithuania as a place where you can greet baby tigers. But as I once wrote a song “Unexpected Things Happen”. Indeed, that is the truth. When you least expect it, then you get it. These things make life exciting!

IMG_8634
Look at those eyes!

The day started with us deciding where we wanted to go. Klaipeda Zoo is 10 kilometres from Klaipeda and that didn’t seem far away or uncomfortable to get to, because we had a car. We didn’t have high expectations for the place. This Zoo was started by one man called Edvardas Legeckas, already in 2001. But only in 2014, the place got the Zoo status and changed its name. However, we were nicely surprised when we entered the Zoo area, since it looked quite big, with lots of people visiting.

The first thing that caught my eyes on the way to the ticket office, was people touching and enjoying the company of small baby tigers, inside a building, with windows all around. It was a unique sight. Then I understood – I wanted to have this experience in my life. We payed 15 euros each, to be able to meet the tigers for 10 minutes and patiently waited for our turn.

When our time came, it was impossible to hide the excitement and happiness. You could instantly notice different personalities and moods of the tigers. There was one white tiger, obviously tired, chilling on the blanket in the corner. Another white tiger seemed to attack my leg, but the lady who took care of them said that he was just being playful and handed me a toy to play with him. So there I was, playing with a tiger for the first time in my life!

IMG_8631IMG_8641

Another thing I wanted to do in those 10 minutes we got there, was to pick one tiger up and hold him in my hands for the picture and simply see how it felt like. To be honest, I tried to pick the tiger up probably around 5 times, if not more. Every time I got scared because they were quite heavy and the second I tried to lift one up, he made a weird noise. I noticed one man lifting tigers up and down with no fear, even though they made the same sounds. After that, I thought that I can do it as well. And voíla, I did it! My facial expression and huge smile says it all. I didn’t know my smile could get this wide before this meet&greet happened! It was totally worth it!

Lithuanian Sea Coast: NIDA video

The last video of my Lithuanian Sea Coast series is here. I hope you enjoyed these videos and you are looking forward for what is here to follow! ❤

Screen Shot 2017-07-22 at 17.23.18

Personally, I have really enjoyed making these videos and sharing them with you guys, because I got a chance to relive these beautiful moments. Making this kind of travel videos in general is a big passion of mine. And I know for sure that it will be so amazing to watch these summer vacation videos in winter time and see how beautiful my home country is, if you look at it in the right angle. When sad thoughts come into your head, when you simply cannot wait for the warmth, sun, vacation and summer activities, memory videos like these help a lot. Also for inspiration, happiness and beautiful views. You simply get reminded of blessings in your life.

Enough of the sentimental thoughts. I guess, I am missing this vacation already. 🙂 Let`s talk a bit about this vacation resort town called Nida. This town is indeed really beautiful with its own charm and relaxing vibe, situated in the centre of Neringa municipality. As you can see in the video, it is way smaller than Klaipeda and Palanga, and we only stayed there for half a day. We took a ferry from Klaipeda to Smiltyne, which took us only 5 minutes. It is really fast. And then, if you go by car, it takes around half an hour to drive from the ferry to Nida. You also drive past Juodkrante, which is also a small, nice and cozy resort. There are beautiful bike paths from Smiltyne to Nida. If you are a sporty person and bike enthusiast, try biking both ways!

You will find one main path by the sea, both for pedestrians and bikes in Nida, which leads you to the beautiful dunes (kopos in Lithuanian, as I am saying in the video, since I really didn’t know the word dunes then). Dunes is such an unusual landscape created by the sea and wind. When you get up the stairs, you get to see a breathtaking view, which you have to experience yourself! Only there and then you understand how fragile and at the same time mighty this landscape is. Behind the scenes were us, simply sitting on the sand, enjoying the view and eating fresh strawberries from the garden.

There is a feeling of slow life in Nida. As you can spot in the video below, while we walked besides, an old woman was slowly hanging her newly washed clothes on the wire for them to dry outside. Around two hours later, when we walked back to the car, the woman was still slowly hanging the clothes and talking to her neighbour. How cute is that? This shows that you have to really slow down in Nida and truly relax.

What is a bit sad about this resort is the fact that it`s quite expensive. However, it is totally understandable why. The climate of Lithuania won’t let the tourists enjoy Nida in any other season, except of summer. Restaurants, hotels and other businesses only have three short months to do their thing. It is natural that they have to increase their prices in order to survive. Also you have to pay 20 euros in order to be able to drive into this beautiful town with a car. And you know what, there wasn’t a second that we doubted whether we should go to Nida or not. It is totally worth it!

Enjoy the video in HD and I hope you will visit Nida some day! Also check out my Palanga and Klaipeda videos in my previous posts, if you haven’t done it yet, and feel free to tell me what you think! 🙂

You have to see this SUNSET

IMG_8817

Do you see yourself, searching for words,

This dream leaves you speechless…

When you do not find a word

That could describe what you see.

In front of your eyes,

Magic happens all the time,

But only sometimes you notice it.

When you are at the right time, at the right place,

With the right person, and the colours are great.

So which word floats on the tip of your tongue,

´Cause mine had a word insane, but the sound has a negative vibe.

Let`s change the word to outstanding, alright,

Because this sunset was unbelievable magical,

No filters are allowed.

I hope each of you, will experience the magic,

Try to find a place where it happens more often.

Sunsets in Lithuania, by the Baltic Sea is the place to be.

I am so happy to share the best sunset I have experienced so far.

You are welcome to watch it in the PALANGA video: https://rutaantana.com/2017/07/18/lithuanian-sea-coast-palanga-video/

Lithuanian Sea Coast: PALANGA video

The time has come for my second Travel with Rūta video, this time from a city called Palanga. A vacation resort well known for the Lithuanians as well as some foreigners. A city of romance!

Screen Shot 2017-07-18 at 21.26.07

When I was still living in Lithuania, this town was our family number one vacation spot in summer time. I didn’t use to care about the cold sea water, since the Baltic Sea doesn’t really get warmer than 18 degrees. However, saying that you get use to good things fast is  very true. As fast as you get to know a truly warm sea, you just don’t feel the need to go into cold sea. There is good enough to only feel the water with your feet. That is what I did and I feel very content about it. No regrets about not swimming in the Baltic Sea this time!

A long beach stretches out far far away, to other small town called Šventoji and has in all a seafront of 25 kilometres! Light and pleasant sand, soughing waves and special dunes. The combination of these things will give you peace of mind and sense of harmony. If you decide to go far by the sea, you can try to find some amber or pretty shells.

Unique dunes is an ideal place to hide yourself from the wind or to find a more comfortable, intimate and warmer corner. The beach in Palanga is very crowded on a warmer day, especially in the weekends in summer time. Therefore, the dunes are the place to be for the people who like a more quiet and private relaxation.

If you ever go to this city, do not forget to visit famous Palanga bridge (Palangos tiltas), where people gather together to watch remarkable sunsets. We were lucky enough to experience an outstanding sunset while visiting Palanga. It is hard to describe it. You will see it in my video which is in the bottom of this post. To see it in video is of course not the same as being in the moment, but you will get an idea of how perfect it was. And yes, I really think it was perfect. ❤

Some other famous places are the famous Basanavicius street, is where all the fun is situated – different bars, cafes, clubs, attractions and activities, where different music is being played and performed live on the evenings. Also Tiškevičiai Palace and Amber Museum, Birutė Park and Musical Fountain. These are the places shown in the video that are worth a visit or two!

I hope you will enjoy the video and catch a happy inspiration! Don’t forget to watch it in HD! 🙂

Lithuanian Sea Coast: KLAIPEDA video

Screen Shot 2017-07-15 at 20.26.49.png

How are you guys doing?

I have been in my home country Lithuania for the last couple of weeks. The most of my time was spent by the Lithuanian sea coast, which is on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea. The weather wasn’t that pleasant at times, as August tends to be a warmer month there. However, we had such an amazing time doing different activities.

I decided to do a Lithuanian Sea Coast series, consisting of 3 short Travel with Ruta videos from the cities Klaipeda, Nida and Palanga. I will tell you more closely about some special and exciting things I have done while abroad in other blog post. For example meeting some super cute baby tigers in Klaipeda Zoo and I will share some outfits of the day.

Let`s start our journey together by watching my travel video from Klaipeda, the third largest city in Lithuania, situated by the Baltic Sea. This video consists of sightseeing, beautiful beaches and of course some funny dance moves, just the way I like it. While I am in progress with different exciting activities, I usually forget to film. Not only forget, but there is simply no time for filming when excitement hits your head. Therefore, my travel videos usually don’t include activities, but rather sightseeing and nature.

I hope you will enjoy it and catch that good and happy vibe, which you can use as inspiration for positive travels in style! Follow me and we will be in touch. (Don’t forget to watch the video in HD.) 🙂

How to pack light for your travel + OOTD

IMG_9766

IMG_9759
The same amount of clothes packed in two different ways.

Finally, vacation time is here and that means that time has come for our vacation travel! This year we are travelling to Lithuania for two weeks! And guess what, two weeks have to be packed into 10 kilo maximum luggage. Well, no problem at all! There is no need to overpack. You simply have to think through everything you will need and want to wear. And it is absolutely possible to wear the same outfit item more than once. So get creative and write down the most important things you will need for your travel. In this way, it will be much easier to pack only the things you will truly need.

Also if you don’t want to use your time on your vacation thinking about outfits, take some time beforehand to prepare your outfits piece by piece. Put the ready outfit on the ground or your bed and take a photo of it. Try to combine the same pants, jacket or blouse in different outfits. Choose two pairs of neutral shoes that will go with most of your outfits. Sneakers are a must and the second pair can be chosen individually. Personally, I like to take shoes with platforms that will go with a dress or a more dressy look. The shoes I choose are still comfortable for me, because I really like walking. If I go to a warm destination, I also bring my flip flops that are perfect for the beach. But this time this is not the case.

19433715_1559639354060256_1757436558_n 2
Example of an outfit picture for yourself while travelling.

There are actually 3 travel essentials – passport, flight tickets and your visa or money. After these items follow phone, toiletries, some clothes and other electronic devices or shoes. And after these again it is all about your destination and preferences. Are you going to relax at the beach and will need a bikini, towel and diving glasses? Or are you going to bring your laptop? If you are into photos, do not forget your precious camera! If you are into using blow dryer or straightener in your everyday life, try to relax your hair from it on your vacation. You will look pretty in your natural state and at the same time you will save a lot of space in your luggage. Simply bring your hair brush and you are good to go.

How to pack your clothes? Wear the most heavy items and shoes. I always wear my leather jacket while travelling and my heavy shoes. The rest of my clothes are being wrapped and folded  in this way:

My travel outfit, heavy jacket and shoes.

In the end, there is no need to stress before travels. There is no need to panic, only to think things through and invest some of your precious time beforehand. Write down the most important things you will need to bring with you and plan your outfits by taking photos. In this case you can only turn on your phone, look at the photos you took and choose the most desirable outfit for the moment. It will save a lot of your time and nerves! We all know how time flies while travelling and while you have loads of fun. After all, the most important thing is to have your tickets, passport, money and wonderful mood and company. Be ready for adventures and relax. You completely deserve it!

Have a wonderful vacation! ❤

Cat Café in Vilnius, Lithuania

IMG_0349
Ladies by the Cathedral of Vilnius.

When I was visiting my home country Lithuania last year, my brothers wife gave me the best suggestion – to visit the one and only Cat Café situated in the capital Vilnius. My nephew was dreaming about this cafe for a long time and I also didn’t hesitate to give a positive answer. I also invited my amazing friend and we headed off to the train station for our short and fun adventure.

The day started in a very unusual way. It was the end of July and the weather was typically really good. We took on our summer clothes and headed for a mini bus which was suppose to drive us to the train station. While sitting on that bus, we saw the sky slowly getting darker and darker. And suddenly, it started to pour! It was not only some summer rain. It was literally pouring with lighting getting the sky brighter, thunder making remarkable sounds and small ice cubes hitting the bus windows. Well, you can imagine our reactions. First, we laughed and then it got a bit scary to leave that bus. However, nothing would ruin our great trip mood! We ran from the bus to the train station, got really wet and laughed so hard it was hard to breath. The day got really interesting!

When we finally arrived in Vilnius (a one hour trip from a city called Kaunas), before we went to our goal place of the day, we decided to visit a beautiful public park called Bernardinai Garden (Bernardinu Sodas). There are botanic exhibitions, fountains, flowers and green areas with benches and small stream of water.

The peak of this trip could be our running in the rain, but the Cat Café (Kačių kavinė) was originally our goal and took over the attention. And you are probably wondering what this café is all about? Do they serve cats there? Well, I want to calm you down. This café has many beautiful cats that walk around and you can look at them, pet them, buy them some treats, take pictures, go and play with them while you are waiting for your food, after you are finished eating or in between if you like. Therefore, the Cat Café is all about smiles and good vibes!

It is a very exciting and unusual concept that will definitely give you something to talk about. I have to say, that the cats are not that enthusiastic, probably very used to all of the people, attention and therefore not so excited to play or do something other than laying around or sleeping. However, if you decide to buy them a treat, which you can do right there, as my nephew did, then you will get surrounded by the cats and feel the real attention. Would you like to visit the Cat Café?

IMG_0369

Last but not least, how could we not go to one of the little cafes situated in the beautiful and lively Old Town of Vilnius? Delicious cakes, coffees, lovely live music delivered just next to you by talented street musicians. Perfect ending on this little and exciting trip!

A day in Trakai, Lithuania

I was looking at some older photos and remembered one very nice trip that took place last July. So I decided to happily write about it!

When I visit my home country Lithuania, my girl friends and I have a tradition to visit a lot of different cafés. It is very exciting and fun. Since we were little girls, we used to save some money and visit our local café for a little treat. We always thought that it was a great way to spend some time together, catch up on things and treat ourselves properly. However, the last time I visited Lithuania in summer, we decided to do something different – to spend a day in Trakai. And of course, it included treats and goodies! 🙂

IMG_9888
The Castle of Trakai.

A short train ride from the capital of Lithuania, which is Vilnius, you will find a small but rather beautiful town called Trakai. It is a historical town and lake resort, which makes it a great tourist attraction with beautiful nature, history, culture and relaxation. We started our trip by taking a train from Vilnius to Trakai, which took us around half an hour. After that, we walked through the park by the lake to the city centre,  where the beautiful castle of Trakai is situated. Where people walk slowly, go for a boat or yacht ride, take lots of pictures, buy various of things in the streets and eat delicious food in the restaurants. Trakai is also very popular place for wedding photoshoots.

IMG_9886
While walking to the town.

Since the walking takes quite some time, it was about time to grab something to eat. And you ask what you could eat while visiting Trakai? Well, all Lithuanians know Trakai of their traditional heritage, which is called Kibinai (singular: kibinas). Therefore, You should definitely order one of those while visiting this beautiful town. But what is Kibinai? Basically dough pastry filled with meat and onion. It is usually made with different meats so you can choose the kind you prefer the most. Also they have vegetarian Kibinai, filled with cottage cheese and spinach. Delicious!

And guys, it was such a hot day! My shorts were literally glued to my legs. It was almost impossible to be in the sun. So after we ate, we found a wonderful shade spot under the trees besides the castle. There we sat, read a magazine and simply enjoyed peaceful surroundings.

IMG_9908

The Castle of Trakai is situated on the island, surrounded by lake Galvė. There is a bridge leading you to the castle, and you can walk around it for free, and inside can be visited by buying a ticket. This wonderful visit of ours was ended with some tasty ice cream and by taking a yacht! It is also one of the most common attractions in Trakai. On the hot day like that, it was perfect, so relaxing and beautiful. Highly recommended to spend a summer day in this beautiful town!
